Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United is very near to completion.

The Manchester Evening News’ Samuel Luckhurst reported that Sanchez arrived at United’s Carrington training base for a medical shortly before 1:45pm.

The transfer, which will see Henrikh Mkhitaryan join Arsenal, is expected to be announced at some point on Monday, although Man United supporters are calling for the club to announce it this evening.

Sanchez’s debut may come not in front of 70,000 fans at Old Trafford, or at any other Premier League ground, but at Huish Park, home to League Two outfit Yeovil Town.

The Red Devils face Yeovil in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday evening, and it seems like an ideal fixture for Sanchez to appear.

Arsenal fans are understandably disappointed with Sanchez’s decision to leave the club in the same manner that Robin van Persie did in 2012.

But his commitment can’t really be called into question. Indeed, Sanchez set his sights on ending Arsenal’s long wait for a Premier League trophy when he arrived at the Emirates Stadium in 2014.

What Sanchez said to Pires when he joined Arsenal

Robert Pires has revealed that Sanchez informed him of his desire to win a title when he joined from Barcelona four years ago.

“He has always given his body, his blood, to the team. He is a winner. And it’s what he wants,” Pires told Chilean publication La Tercera, via the Mirror.

"When he signed for Arsenal, he told me: "I’m here to win titles." And I like that attitude.

"People will understand that he was very important for the club."

Pires, who has spent time among Arsenal’s squad this season, also believes that Sanchez wanted to stay in north London.

“If United wants him and is willing to spend a lot of money, good for him,” the Frenchman added.

"But for me, Alexis wanted to stay at Arsenal. I have not talked to him, but what I see, what I smell, is that he was very good in London, very good in Arsenal."

Yet in the eyes of many Arsenal supporters, Sanchez has jumped at the money.

He will earn £450,000-per-week at Old Trafford, according to the Mail, a truly incredible sum for a 29-year-old.
