Arsenal couldn't possibly have given Arsene Wenger a better goodbye.
After 22 years at the north London club, the legendary manager completed his final home game on Sunday afternoon with a 5-0 thrashing of Burnley. A brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well as goals from Sead Kolasinac, Alexandre Lacazette and Alex Iwobi secured the perfect finale.
Then, after the game, the club put on a beautiful tribute for their longest serving manager and arguably their very greatest.
Wenger was eventually brought onto the pitch, delivering a touching speech to a packed Emirates Stadium.
The Frenchman stated: "I will always be an Arsenal fan. It is what unites us in every cell of our body, those dreams and worries.
Wenger bids goodbye to Arsenal
"I would like to thank everyone at the club who makes this club so special.
"This group of players has special quality, not only on the pitch, but off it too. Support them next season, because they deserve it.
"I will miss you. Thank you for being such an important part of my life. I hope to see you soon."
Wenger's moment with a young fan
The speech was followed by a lap of honour around the pitch where Wenger applauded every corner of the stadium, thanking fans for their support over the years.
However, there was a slight interruption in proceedings but one that was all-too perfect.
Wenger noticed from afar a young supporter holding up a sign asking for his tie.
It was at that point that Wenger stopped, clambered over the advertising hoardings, removed his tie and gave the fan a moment to treasure forever. It was truly heartwarming.
Take a look below:
Say what you like about Wenger's last few seasons with Arsenal but you can't deny that he's a true gentleman.
It's small gestures like that which create memories for young people and it was the perfect way for Wenger to kiss goodbye to his supporters of 22 years.
The fact he made no fuss about the moment, just about sums him up.
What lays ahead for both Wenger and Arsenal remains unclear.
The search for the club's next manager will go on and Wenger looks poised for some serious soul-searching about the next chapter of his career, if there is to be one.
It won't be easy for either party to move on, such is the length of their partnership, but it's a spell that will be forever treasured by everyone associated with Arsenal Football Club.
