Jordan Pickford’s reaction to Kieran Trippier’s free-kick vs Croatia is everything

England v Croatia: Semi Final - 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia

It's safe to say that England's World Cup semi-final against Croatia was always going to be a nervy contest.

Both teams have found themselves in a position they would never have seen coming at the start of the tournament and the quarter-finals were seen as a successful tournament.

And on the brink of the final, getting that all important first goal was the dream in both dugouts - after all, one is all it took to settle France vs Belgium.

It took less than five minutes for that dream to come true for England as Kieran Trippier bagged his first ever England goal with a gorgeous free kick.

He became only the third man to score a World Cup semi-final goal for England after two of the greatest to ever pull on the white shirt: Bobby Charlton and Gary Lineker.

That's the kind of history that the England players are dealing with here - the ability to do things that remarkably few have managed.

And while Trippier's free-kick certainly looked fantastic on the first view, an alternative angle sums up everything about it.

The view from behind goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was shown shortly afterwards and it gives you the lot: the strike, the jubilation, the passion of Pickford - perfect.

You can check it out below:

You can see exactly what a great hit it was from Trippier, while the players wheeling away as Pickford turns to celebrate with the fans creates is simply brilliant.

That goal was exactly what England wanted, forcing a Croatian team who have played 120 minutes twice in a row to chase the game.
