Alex Iwobi scored the winning spot-kick as Arsenal beat Chelsea 6-5 on penalties in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night.
Unai Emery and Maurizio Sarri are both finalising preparations for their maiden Premier League seasons.
German defender Antonio Rudiger had scored an early header to give Chelsea the lead at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
The Gunners were heading towards defeat until Alexandre Lacazette came off the bench to score a 93rd minute equaliser from close range.
Mesut Ozil earned praise for his clever reverse pass in the build-up to Arsenal's equaliser.
And Emery's side were victorious in the penalty shoot-out.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek was the only player to miss in the shoot-out and Iwobi stepped up and sent Marcin Bulka the wrong way.
Ozil v Fabregas
The 29-year-old playmaker retired from international football this summer following Germany's disappointing World Cup.
Ozil quickly turned his attention to club football, arriving ahead of schedule for Arsenal's pre-season training.
The former Real Madrid star signed a new long-term deal in north London in January and he's looked very sharp ahead of the 2018/19 season.
During the pre-season friendly against Chelsea, Ozil glanced over his shoulder before receiving a simple pass from Arsenal teammate Sead Kolasinac.
Chelsea's Cesc Fabregas attempted to press the German on the half-hour mark - but Ozil left him for dead with a beautiful turn.
As Arsenal fans have probably come to expect, an inch-perfect pass to Henrikh Mkhitaryan followed.
Ozil's brilliant touch created a great opportunity but the chance was wasted.
Emery offered his support to Ozil after he retired from international football, amid accusations that the German Football Association (DFB) treated him with "racism and disrespect".
"All of us want to help Mesut feel like it is his home here with us, like a family and it is a family for every player," said Emery.
"He feels here with us that he can work every day, and it is good for us that he decided to come here and work with us before our two matches."
"He has experience, he has quality and he has a great mentality and we are going to help him feel good and to show his quality with us.
"I am sure he is going to have a big season with us.
"I am very happy with him, every player is looking together and Mesut has the respect of every player here.
"It is a personal decision from Mesut and I respect it."News Now - Sport News
