Andre Gomes is going viral for funny moment on Everton debut vs Crystal Palace

Gomes made his Everton debut vs Palace

Andre Gomes finally made his Everton debut on Sunday two months after arriving on loan from Barcelona.

The Portuguese - who was signed by Barca for £30 million two years ago - will spend the season at Goodison Park and got his first 82 minutes of his Everton career under his belt against Crystal Palace.

Gomes may have left the pitch with the scores at 0-0, but Everton eventually grabbed a 2-0 victory.

His replacement, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, scored the opener in the 87th-minute, while fellow substitute Cenk Tosun sealed the win two minutes later.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean Gomes had a bad game.

In fact, Everton boss Marco Silva was pleased with what he saw.

“He did well, like we expected,” Silva said of Gomes’ performance.

“He is working really hard and well. He is a player who can give us different things in that zone.”

Gomes may have played well but there is just one moment from his performance that is going viral. And it’s for all the wrong reasons.

In the 77th-minute, Gomes broke forward with the ball in a promising position.

And just as he attempted to play a through ball to Theo Walcott, he simply tripped over his own feet.

With the scores still level at the time, Everton fans weren’t happy and Gomes was substituted just minutes later.

Just take a look:

It's even been picked up by media in Spain.

How awkward.

We’ll give the 25-year-old the benefit of the doubt though.

Having not played for two months since arriving in England and with 77 minutes of Premier League football in his legs, we’ll put his little trip down to tiredness.
