Slow-mo footage of Oleksandr Usyk's knockout of Tony Bellew

Oleksandr Usyk v Tony Bellew - Cruiserweight World Title Fight

Oleksandr Usyk was just too good for Tony Bellew in the end.

In the final fight of his career, it wasn’t quite the fairytale ending for ‘Bomber’ but he will leave Manchester with his head held high.

In the eighth round, the undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world, Usyk, landed a hefty left hand sending Bellew to the canvas.

After his defeat, Bellew paid tribute to Usyk and insisted there’s no way back for him now.

"I have no excuses and he is a great champion, he is the greatest man I have ever shared the ring with," Bellew admitted.

"I don't even know what he caught me with. When you nail him he is hard to pin down. He is just better than me.

"I tried my best and it is heartbreaking because I gave this everything I had and it didn't work out. It is definitely the end."

As for Usyk, he will now be targeting the biggest names in the sport.

And Eddie Hearn name-dropped a certain Anthony Joshua.

"We will sit down with the team and plot his next move and I think he will move to heavyweight," Hearn said.

"For four rounds Tony outboxed him, but ultimately he will be difficult to beat. One day Oleksandr Usyk against Anthony Joshua is going to be a huge fight.

Now that would be an incredible fight.

Usyk certainly has the power to trouble Joshua - something we all saw against Bellew.

And you only need to look at the slow-mo footage of the knockout to see that.

Despite that massive blow, Hearn claimed that Bellew wanted to get back up and carry on.

"He swore blind to the referee he was OK to continue. Tonight he fought possibly pound to pound the best fighter in the sport,” Hearn said.

That just sums up Bellew perfectly.
