The five-man shortlist Barcelona have drawn up in their search for a new striker

Levante v FC Barcelona - Copa del Rey Round of 16

It’s been a fairly quiet January transfer window, hasn’t it?

Top European clubs are often reluctant to make moves midway through the season due to the lack of value on offer.

However, La Liga leaders Barcelona have very little choice but to make a signing.

Having allowed their only reserve striker Munir to join Sevilla this week, Ernesto Valverde is now on the hunt for a back-up forward.

And it seems the club have now settled on five potential candidates.

But their shortlist will raise plenty of eyebrows.

Barca are looking for a short-term option with no obligation to buy at the end of the season.

And according to the Daily Mail, the Camp Nou club are looking at the following five strikers:

Morata has suffered a wretched 18 months at Chelsea and the Spaniard is clearly unhappy.

But the Premier League club won’t let Morata leave for anything less than a loan deal.

Unsurprisingly, Barcelona don’t particularly want to spend big on the flop.

Chelsea v Nottingham Forest - FA Cup Third Round

Again, Barcelona are looking towards a Chelsea striker.

He ticks plenty of boxes for Barca and would be ready to slot straight in immediately. However, Chelsea would be far more reluctant to allow Giroud to leave Stamford Bridge.

Crystal Palace v Chelsea FC - Premier League

A move for Llorente looked to be on the cards until Sunday. Harry Kane picked up an ankle ligament injury and has now been ruled out until March.

Mauricio Pochettino will need to call upon Llorente and surely there's no chance of letting him leave this month.

Tranmere Rovers v Tottenham Hotspur - FA Cup Third Round

Perez has plenty of experience in La Liga and is struggling for first-team football at West Ham at the moment.

But with Marco Arnautovic set to leave for China, Perez might be needed at the London Stadium.

Burnley FC v West Ham United - Premier League

The fourth and final striker on Barca’s list is former Middlesbrough forward Stuani.

This season, the Uruguayan is actually La Liga’s third top-goalscorer with 12 goals for Girona. But Girona will only sell if Barca meet his €15 million release clause - a fee they’re balking at.
