Andy Robertson insists Liverpool aren't nervous following West Ham draw

Andy Robertson has insisted Liverpool aren't nervous following West Ham draw

Liverpool have been stumbling in recent weeks as they go in search of their first Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp's men had the chance to go seven points clear at the top of the table on Wednesday night, but they failed to do so as they drew 1-1 with Leicester City.

And Liverpool dropped points yet again on Wednesday night as they drew with West Ham.

Sadio Mane's opener was cancelled out by Michail Antonio's effort for the hosts.

That means that Liverpool are now just three points clear of Manchester City.

The Reds have been poor in recent weeks. It's clear that they aren't playing as well as they were earlier on in the season.

Many football fans have suggested that Liverpool are suffering with nerves.

Virgil van Dijk even stated after their draw with Leicester on Wednesday that the Anfield crowd sounded 'nervous'.

And following their draw with West Ham, Andy Robertson was asked whether he thought Liverpool were suffering from nerves.

And he brushed off that notion, while also raising a good point about Manchester City.

"I wouldn't say nerves are showing," he replied. "Did anyone say that when Manchester City dropped points against Crystal Palace and Leicester? I don't think they did.

"It's no different for us. A lot of people talk about pressure because we've not been in this position. But it's February.

"I think everyone needs to relax and try and enjoy the run-in, if you're a fan, or a spectator or whatever, you can watch.

"I'm sure many other teams will want to be in the position we are now.

"Nerves aren't showing in the changing room. It's just been two poor results and two poor performances. That happens during a long season.

"We might look back on it as a good point. But we don't know that just now.

"We need to get back to playing better football. It's nothing to do with nerves."

Well said, Robertson.

No-one said the same when Man City lost back-to-back games earlier this season.

It seems the notion that Liverpool are showing 'nerves' is being blown out of proportion.

And Liverpool fans enjoyed Robertson's answer.
