Arsenal have left themselves a mountain to climb in the Europa League.
Many Gunners supporters were pretty happy to draw Rennes, the side currently languishing in 10th in the Ligue 1 table.
However, Unai Emery's side left Roazhon Park tonight having been deservedly beaten 3-1 and it could have been far worse.
Arsenal actually took the lead in just the third minute courtesy of Alex Iwobi's cross-cum-shot, but it all went wrong from there.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos was shown a second yellow card just before the break, with Benjamin Bourigeaud scoring a rocket from the resulting free-kick.
In the second-half, Nacho Monreal turned into his own net on 65 minutes, before Ismaïla Sarr completed the job with a lovely diving header on 88 minutes after a sweeping counter.
How Arsenal were so open at the back with just 10 men was utterly baffling and Monreal's reaction in the build-up to the goal has been heavily criticised.
The Spanish stalwart produced arguably his worst performance in an Arsenal shirt, with Sarr tormenting him in the second-half.
And before the killer blow of the third goal, Monreal was spotted throwing a bit of a tantrum at the referee and not tracking his runner.
The result? Sarr left unmarked in the box to head home. You can watch the footage below.
For a player as experienced as him, that's just simply not on.
Matteo Guendouzi was also seen jogging back towards his own goal, with Aaron Ramsey the only player sprinting with a sense of urgency.
The whole performance was a stark contrast to the dogged, disciplined display the Gunners produced at Wembley against Tottenham.
There was a lack of urgency and quality when breaking forward, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seemingly affected by his late penalty miss against Spurs.
The Gabonese striker is now hugely unlikely to start against Manchester United on Sunday as Alexandre Lacazette will surely return to lead the line.News Now - Sport News
