Mohamed Salah forced to do press-ups after losing Liverpool crossbar challenge

Even when you’re fighting hard for a Premier League title, it’s important to find time to relax and have a laugh with your teammates.

Four of Liverpool’s players did just that this week by taking part in a crossbar challenge in training.

Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Georginio Wijnaldum and Dejan Lovren all participated and, to ramp up the pressure a little further, it was filmed by the club’s cameras.

The crossbar challenge - which was made popular by Soccer AM during the late 1990s and early 2000s - is a test of accuracy.

But above all, it’s just a bit of fun. Football clubs don’t use it as a genuine training exercise.

Of the four Liverpool players taking part in this particular crossbar challenge, you’d probably rank Salah as the favourite, followed by either Oxlade-Chamberlain or Wijnaldum and then, last but not least, centre-back Lovren.

But with a press-up forfeit in store for the loser, the pressure was on - who would shine, and who would crumble?

Surprisingly, Salah was the man left doing press-ups at the end of the challenge after failing to hit the woodwork.

He’s much better at hitting the back of the net - which Liverpool fans would obviously much prefer.

Salah and his teammates are back in action again on Friday night, when they go head-to-head against Southampton at St. Mary’s.

The Reds are currently one point behind league-leaders Manchester City, who are in FA Cup action this weekend, with six matches of the campaign remaining.
