Neymar is willing to pay €20 million of his own money to force through a move to Barcelona

FC Barcelona v Villarreal CF - La Liga

Neymar, Neymar, Neymar.

It’s been hard to escape the controversy surrounding the Brazilian’s move away from Paris Saint Germain this summer.

Yet, despite every effort from Barcelona and Real Madrid, despite all manner of incredible deals being tabled, the 27-year-old is still a PSG player.

The French champions have proved a tough nut to crack in negotiations, refusing to be swayed by the embarrassment of riches the planets wealthiest sides can throw at them.

Barcelona have looked certain to finally seal a deal at some point but with only hours to go in the transfer window, it looks like the Catalans have given up the ghost.

They simply have not been able to strike an accord with the French side and now Neymar’s nightmare seems to be complete.

The Brazilian though has not given in just yet, and, according to Sport, has thrown some of his own weight into negotiations as he frantically tries to force through a deal.

According to the Spanish media outlet, Neymar is willing to contribute €20 million of his own money to help make a deal happen.

Desperate times, indeed.

PSG rejected a deal said to be in the region of £117 million with Ivan Rakitic, Ousmane Dembele and Todibo all included.

Neymar is willing to ensure that the PSG’s valuation is met though, with the French champions holding out for a fee of £135 million instead.

However, the deal still seems to depend on Ousmane Dembele who is not exactly enthused by the idea of a move to France.

There really is no way of telling how this one will end, but it is clear that Neymar does not want to be in Paris come next week.

Of all the possible options to have been rumoured this summer, Neymar staying at PSG looked by far the most unlikely.

The Brazilian better buckled down the hatches now though, because there could be a Parisian storm heading his way if he stays put.
