Sergio Ramos sent Joao Felix to the floor within four minutes of the Madrid derby

Club Atletico de Madrid v Real Madrid CF - La Liga

Real Madrid were held to a goalless draw by Atletico Madrid in Saturday's derby.

Though the Rojiblancos knew a win would see them overhaul their rivals at the top of La Liga, it was Karim Benzema who carved out the best chance of the game.

The Frenchman was denied by Jan Oblak to ensure it finished level.

There was very little else of note unfolding at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Questions will be asked of Eden Hazard's latest uninspiring performance, the Belgian replaced in the 77th minute without having even attempted a shot.

It was the same story for Atleti, their own new boy Joao Felix failing to impress.

The 19-year-old survived just 70 minutes, but squandered his best chance early on when he was played in by Diego Costa.

Then again, the starlet could be forgiven for finding the whole experience a little daunting given the induction he was given by Sergio Ramos.

In the opening exchanges, the centre-back somehow avoided a booking for an overtly cynical block which sent Felix hurtling to the floor.

Ramos then proceeded to make a gesture telling him to get to his feet.

The evening didn't really improve for Felix from there as he faded away completely in the second half before Diego Simeone took him off.

Meanwhile, Ramos could still find himself in hot water after the game because of another incident.

Simeone alleges that the Spanish international insulted the linesman's mother.

Marca note that Costa was banned for eight matches last season for similar behaviour, so it's easy to see why Atletico felt aggrieved.

The hosts may feel it was a missed opportunity against a stuttering Real, though they faced a Los Blancos side who were on the back of consecutive wins for the first time this season.

The result leaves Zinedine Zidane's men inexplicably top of La Liga - which probably says more about the other teams competing at the summit than it does about them.
