Liverpool were desperate to get Naby Keita in the summer of 2017.

For months, they were linked with the RB Leipzig midfielder but just couldn’t get the deal over the line.

However, they weren’t prepared to accept defeat and the next best solution was to agree a deal for 12 months time.

The Guinean finally arrived at Anfield in July 2018 for £48m.

However, some say that they’re still waiting for him to properly arrive on Merseyside.

The 24-year-old has shown glimpses of his brilliance in between the numerous injuries he’s picked up.

Last season, he missed 13 Premier League games and he's already been absent for the start of this campaign.

But things are starting to head in the right direction for Keita, it seems.

His 13-minute cameo against Manchester United helped Liverpool earn a point.

It also earned him a start during for their Champions League trip to Genk.

And Keita’s confidence was clear for all to see.

He produced a brilliant performance which included the most passes completed (110), most final third passes (29), most take-ons completed (3), most ball recoveries (12) and most tackles won (3).

It also included a rather outrageous pass with his back after just eight seconds.

Not bad, Naby.

Whether he’s done enough to keep his place in the XI for the visit of Tottenham on Sunday remains to be seen.
