Arsenal crisis: The amount of shots the Gunners have faced this season is ridiculous

Arsenal continue to sink to new lows

Arsenal Football Club is an absolute shambles right now.

After last night's 2-1 loss to Brighton at the Emirates, the north London club sit 10th in the Premier League table, just five points above the relegation zone.

They're winless in their last nine games in all competitions and at the moment, they look like they could go the rest of the season without tasting victory again.

The Gunners' upcoming run in the Premier League will not fill fans with confidence either, with Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United all to come in the next four weeks.

It's hard to put a finger on the specific issue with Arsenal at the moment as they seem to be lacking in every department.

But their defence - aside from the brilliant Bernd Leno - is probably the prime reason for their woes and the amount of shots they have faced this season has gone well beyond a joke.

Firstly, no team in Europe's top five leagues has faced more shots on target (52) at home than Arsenal this season.

Eight of those came last night against Brighton!

Secondly, the Gunners have now faced more shots (253) this season than Manchester City faced in the entirety of last season (238). By the way, it's the start of December...

And just to finish things off, Arsenal's embarrassing tally of 52 shots on target conceded at home is already more than the tally the 2003/04 Invincible side conceded at Highbury all season (48).

A reminder in case you missed it, we're only six days into the month of December!

It's hard to fathom quite how a 'top six side' could have such dreadful defensive numbers.

But when you watch the likes of David Luiz and Sokratis try and defend for 90 minutes, you can fully understand why.

You really do feel for Leno in the Arsenal goal.
