Toni Kroos scores incredible quickly-taken corner for Real Madrid v Valencia

Real Madrid are currently playing Valencia in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup.

And the deadlock was broken in the 15th minute following a quite remarkable goal from Toni Kroos.

The German midfielder caught out Valencia with a quickly-taken shot direct from a corner.

Valencia goalkeeper Jaume Domenech and his teammates were getting ready to defend the set-piece - but they were too slow for Kroos.

The World Cup winner curled in a beautiful right-footed shot, which Domenech failed to keep out despite his best efforts.

Now, how’s that for quick thinking... Trent Alexander-Arnold, eat your heart out!

Many football fans watching the game were quick to make the comparison with Alexander-Arnold’s famous corner taken against Barcelona for Liverpool in the Champions League last season.

‘Corner taken quickly… Origi!’ are four words that will never be forgotten for Liverpool fans after Alexander-Arnold’s quick-thinking from a corner led to Divock Origi scoring the Reds’ winner.

Perhaps Kroos took some inspiration from Alexander-Arnold - who knows?

Regardless, full marks to the 30-year-old for having the quality to score from that position.
