There’s no doubt that Romelu Lukaku was a bigger physical specimen during his second season at Manchester United.
The Belgian striker has always been powerful, of course, but his increasingly muscular physique appeared to be working against him at times during the 2018-19 campaign.
He would sometimes look curiously sluggish and out of breath, which led supporters to question his fitness levels.
Former Man Utd captain Gary Neville literally laughed out on loud one afternoon while providing co-commentary for Sky Sports after Lukaku looked worn out in the 27th minute during a match against Chelsea.
“I genuinely think it’s a fitness issue,” Neville replied, sounding amused, after Lukaku failed to get himself into the box. “Look at him on the edge of the box now - he’s knackered!”

Lukaku went from scoring 27 goals in 52 games in his first season at Old Trafford to 15 in 45 the next.
Fans on social media would constantly mock his weight and first touch, so it wasn’t a shock when Lukaku decided that he wanted a fresh start elsewhere.
The 26-year-old sealed a £74 million move to Inter last summer and hasn’t looked back since.
Lukaku scored the final goal in Inter’s 4-2 win over rivals AC Milan on Sunday and that means he now has 21 goals and four assists in just 30 appearances for his current employers.
He looks happier than at any point during his second season with United.
Per the Telegraph, Lukaku also ‘scores more often, shoots more often, touches the ball more often and creates more chances for his teammates’ after joining the Italian outfit.
The Belgium international also looks fitter and sharper, and the Telegraph’s report reveals there’s an interesting reason for this.
Man Utd had failed to spot a problem with Lukaku’s digestive system, which the player himself was also unaware of.
His digestive system was malfunctioning, which may explain why he bulked up so much during his time at Old Trafford.
Inter quickly spotted the problem and helped Lukaku lose half a stone in just 12 days.
The speed and sharpness has now returned as a result and Inter, who sit joint top of Serie A, are reaping the rewards.
This revelation reflects rather badly on United’s medical staff. Why were they unable to spot a problem that Inter’s team noticed almost immediately?
Perhaps Lukaku would still be a Man Utd player now had they been aware.News Now - Sport News
