Eden Hazard's Real Madrid dream is turning into a real injury nightmare

Hazard has been unlucky since joining Real Madrid

Eden Hazard's Real Madrid dream is quickly turning into a nightmare.

The Belgian became Los Blancos' latest 'Galactico' when he signed from Chelsea last summer, for a fee of €100 million.

An awful lot was expected of the man who made himself a legend at Stamford Bridge. After all, he was regularly regarded as one of the best players in the world there.

But at Madrid, Hazard's career has failed to get off the ground.

It's not really his fault though, with a string of injuries ruining the forward's first season.

Supporters were excited to see Hazard's name on the teamsheet for Saturday's fixture against Levante after he'd been sidelined for the previous 16 games.

He lasted just 67 minutes, though. After limping off, the Belgian took his seat on the bench and confirmed the worst when he wrapped an icepack around his right ankle.

According to Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague, Hazard has suffered a hairline fracture in his right fibula, meaning he will miss crucial games against Manchester City and Barcelona.

This is the latest blow in what has been a very tough debut season. Check out a full breakdown of his terrible injury luck:

August 16 - September 10: Hamstring injury |  25 days sidelined | 3 games missed

November 27 - December 5: Bruised ankle | 8 days sidelined | 1 game missed

December 5 - February 7: Hairline crack in the foot | 64 days sidelined | 16 games missed

February 22 - March 1: Hairline fracture in right fibula | 8 days sidelined | 2 games missed

Hazard has been injured a lot

Hazard just hasn't had any luck since joining Real Madrid. It's very possible his latest injury could see him sidelined for more than just two games, but that's not yet been confirmed by the club.

Manager Zinedine Zidane wasn't confident of a swift return when speaking after the Levante defeat.

"He has been hit in the ankle from the injury. We'll have to do tests but it looks bad," the Frenchman said.

With their star man set for another spell on the sidelines, it's set to be a very tough week for Los Blancos, who face Man City in the Champions League midweek and Barcelona in El Clasico in just seven days time.
