Curtis Jones is a special talent.

The youngster, who has been at Liverpool since the age of 9, has impressed when called upon by Jurgen Klopp this season.

The 19-year-old netted a quite exquisite winner against Everton in the FA Cup third round, in what was his first goal for the club.

He then made it goals in back-to-back games when he scored against Shrewsbury Town three weeks later.

Despite those impressive performances, Jones has found first-team opportunities few and far between.

He has been on the pitch for just 19 minutes in the Premier League this season across two substitute appearances.

Thus, he's played the vast majority of football this campaign for the U23s.

But he proved he's far too good for that level during Liverpool U23s against Sunderland U23s in the Premier League Cup on Monday afternoon.

Jones scored a brilliant hat-trick in just eight minutes as Liverpool sealed a 6-0 win.

Going into the final 10 minutes, Liverpool were 3-0 up and cruising to victory thanks to goals from Liam Millar and a brace from Joe Hardy.

But then Jones made his mark.

He scored his first in the 86th minute in what was a superb solo goal.

Jones jinked past a number of Sunderland players before unleashing a brilliant left-footed effort into the top corner.

His second came in the 93rd minute. He cut inside before curling a pinpoint effort past the goalkeeper.

And he completed his hat-trick virtually from kick-off as he converted from a low cross.

There's no doubt that Jurgen Klopp will be keeping a keen eye on Jones' progress.

He has a tough task getting into this brilliant Liverpool side but, if he keeps putting in performances like this for the U23s, he will be a first team regular in no time.

Jones is turning heads of a lot of Liverpool fans and one man that is a big supporter of his is Robbie Fowler.

"Curtis Jones has bags of talent," Fowler told the Mirror, per the Metro. "Like me, he is from Toxteth and, like me, he’s not shy! He has that confidence, he’s not afraid to speak up and say his piece.

"There’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance and, as long as he doesn’t cross it, he’ll go on to have a good career.

"And the thing about Liverpool’s set-up – from the biggest stars to the youth team – the players are always grounded, so there’s no danger of that."
