For Call of Duty lovers everywhere, the news of a remastered version of 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' being made available has probably spiced up a rather boring and tedious isolation for many gamers.

However, fans are going to be met with a massive shock and a sense of disappointment as there's no multiplayer mode.

The remastered game places emphasis on the campaign mode and there are currently no online features within this version of Call of Duty. In a recent blog post, Activision stated that a multiplayer mode will not be included in the newly remastered version of the iconic game.

"You may be wondering ‘where’s multiplayer and Special Ops’? Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered does not include those modes."

They added: "Starting today, players can relive one of the most hallowed and talked about story campaigns in gaming history with Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. This fully restored and remastered experience is available now on PlayStation 4, with pre-purchase available on other platforms."

Although Modern Warfare 2 will be without a multiplayer mode, this is reflective within its price as the remastered classic is currently valued at £20.

However, it appears that there is a valid reason behind not including the iconic game mode. Activision is seemingly concerned about essentially splitting the fan base which is evident within their blog.

"Beginning with Modern Warfare last year, the focus has been to bring players together seamlessly in one unified online multiplayer playground.

"With cross-play, releasing new post-launch maps, modes, weapons and more content drops for free, and launching Warzone, the Free-to-Play, Free-for-Everyone new Call of Duty experience, the Modern Warfare universe will expand, bringing new experiences to players."

They continued: "Rather than release a separate, multiplayer experience as a standalone pack, Activision and Infinity Ward are looking to bring more classic map experiences to new life within the Modern Warfare universe as it continues to grow and build over time."
