Liverpool star Fabinho's highlights that won him the MOTM award vs Palace

Fabinho was the star player in Liverpool's five-star performance against Crystal Palace.

The Reds moved themselves to within just two points of their maiden Premier League title on Wednesday night and could even be crowned champions in less than 24 hours.

If Manchester City get anything less than three points upon their trip to Chelsea, then the title is Liverpool's, otherwise it will go down to a clash between the top two at the Etihad Stadium.

But just in case there was any semblance of doubt about Liverpool's procession to the trophy, they put those perturbations to bed with a 4-0 annihilation of Roy Hodgson's men.

Palace have been something of a bogey team for the Reds and were the last club to emerge from Anfield with a victory in the league, though there was never any threat of that happening this week.

Fabinho steals the show

Trent Alexander-Arnold opened the scoring with a superb free-kick, Mohamed Salah doubled the advantage before half-time and Sadio Mane wrapped up the game with Liverpool's fourth.

However, the pick of the goals came from Man of the Match award-winner Fabinho, who scored his second thunderbolt of the season from fully 30 yards.

It was one of those shots where you know the player has hit the sweet spot and without any curve or dip in the slightest, it arrowed past Wayne Hennessey like a heat-seeking missile.

Fabinho's stunning individual highlights

But Kopites had long been raving about Fabinho's performance by the time he found the net and for good reason with the Brazilian playing as a destroyer in the heart of midfield.

Aside from setting the tempo with a superb passing rhythm, Fabinho also dispossessed Palace players on a number of occasions and turned provider for Liverpool's second.

It was, to put it another way, the sort of performance for which N'Golo Kante was so often praised during his peak years with Leicester City and Chelsea. That's a major compliment, trust us.

But don't just take our word for it, check out Fabinho's individual highlights - as compiled by Twitter user @LFCComps - to get the full picture of how he dominated Palace:

Here, there and everywhere. Palace players must have been sick of the sight of him.

From the moment he provided that assist for Salah, he didn't put a foot wrong and delivered what some are considering to be the most complete midfield display of the Premier League season.

We're not sure we'd go quite that far, though it's definitely worth bearing in mind, but Fabinho will have a winners' medal around his neck very soon either way.

And it's players like Fabinho that make it very apparent why Liverpool are on course to become the greatest Premier League team in history. Like the Brazilian, the Reds are simply unstoppable.
