Rafael van der Vaart has launched an astonishing attack on Manchester United’s Harry Maguire.
The former Real Madrid and Tottenham midfielder, who criticised Maguire last October, took more shots at the Man United centre-back on Dutch TV this week.
Maguire’s defending was called into question during United’s 5-2 win over Bournemouth last weekend.
He was embarrassed by Junior Stanislas, who got past him without much effort before the Bournemouth midfielder put the Cherries ahead.
It wasn’t Maguire’s first lapse of concentration this season and now Van der Vaart has fired a stinging dig at him.
"I think Maguire goes home every day and tells his wife: 'I'm so s*** at football, but I earn so much. They really believe I'm good,’” the former Dutch international said on Ziggo Sport.
I really think so, he laughs at everyone.
Last October, Van der Vaart took aim at Maguire following his involvement in Man United’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
“When I go to see an amateur club on Sunday, I can find three players who can play like him (Maguire). I mean that," he said.
“It might be silly to say it, but he won’t hear it anyway.
"We are talking about a €90 million signing here. (If Maguire is worth €90 million) then Van Dijk is worth €300 million.”
What has Maguire done to upset Van der Vaart?!
GIVEMESPORT's Scott Wilson says:
Sounds like Van der Vaart is Dutch TV's version of Roy Keane.
He's put Maguire on blast for a second time - and he's taken things up a notch this time.
Maguire hasn't been as bad this season as some of the viral clips of him make out, but a price tag of £80 million brings with it lofty expectations.
Van der Vaart clearly doesn't feel as though Maguire is matching them, and he's letting everyone know it.
We're certainly here for the drama.
