Celtic are making preparations for their pursuit of a 10th successive Scottish title.

Neil Lennon’s side were crowned champions after the curtailment of the 2019/20 season, having led second-placed Rangers by a huge 13 points.

Celtic lost just two games all season, scoring 89 goals in 30 games and conceding a mere 19.

Lennon has clearly built a solid side at Parkhead, one able to resist opposition attacks and keep numerous clean sheets.

Indeed, he has often paired Kristoffer Ajer with Christoper Jullien at the heart of his defence, with the steady presence of Fraser Forster in goal behind them.

The duo’s performances have left Jack Hendry somewhat lost in the shuffle.

Indeed, the Scottish centre-back made just one appearance in all competitions, totalling a mere 11 minutes, and it now appears that he will be leaving the club in the summer transfer window.

Football Insider reports that the club are set to allow him to move on loan, with Belgian club KVV Oostende in talks over signing the defender.

He has reportedly flown to Belgium to finalise the deal, having struggled throughout the campaign under Lennon.

He went on loan to Australian side Melbourne City in January but a knee injury meant that he made just two A-League appearances; he has made over 10 league appearances in just one season in his career, playing 24 times for Dundee FC in 2017/18.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Hendry just hasn’t made any sort of impression at Celtic.

In total, he has made 27 appearances for the club since his move from Dundee but has endured a difficult development period.

Indeed, while he clearly has shown flashes of talent – he has been capped three times by Scotland – he simply has not made any sort of imprint at any club he has played for.

Letting him move to Belgium, where he can look to revitalise his career after a very poor season, feels like a mercy more than anything else.

Hopefully Hendry can prove his worth and earn a permanent move.
