Rangers FC target fails to rule out move to Ibrox

Malinov

Rangers will have a big task on their hands to keep some of their star individuals at Ibrox this summer.

Steven Gerrard has been linked with a move to Bristol City while Alfredo Morelos could depart for either Everton or Napoli.

Once again, Scottish football is being targeted by clubs around Europe with Rangers' Old Firm rivals also facing some of their star men walking out the door.

It's important that Scotland finds a way to iron out these issues, although that may be difficult with the Hoops and the Gers struggling to go too far in European football.

However, both sides are still very much an attractive side to play for.

Ianis Hagi's permanent move was evidence of that, while new quotes from a source of someone close to a Rangers target supplements that viewpoint too.

Whether that target walks through the door, however, remains to be seen.

Hagi

Over the last couple of days the Glaswegians have been touted with a move for Bulgarian Kristiyan Malinov.

The CSKA Sofia midfielder has claimed he's keen to move abroad in the past but now another huge hint over the player's future has emerged.

A source near to the 26-year-old told national newspaper Glasgow Times the following:

"Rangers is a brand in European football. Everybody knows them, so having interest from Rangers is a big deal for Kristiyan and it is a privilege for him to be among contenders on their wish list.

“It would also be a privilege for him to play under Steven Gerrard and be mentored from a coach who was one of the best midfielders in the last decade.

“As a midfielder he feels he could gain a lot from him, especially in a tactical sense."

Malinov

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

This is exactly why Dave King brought Gerrard to Ibrox.

The winning mentality of the player was expected to bring the club closer to Celtic but unfortunately, that hasn't happened. However, in terms of signing new players, Gerrard is a huge lure.

He was influential in bringing Sheyi Ojo to Rangers on loan last term while his side have been linked with a fellow Liverpool player in Rhian Brewster in recent months.

Malinov

Although a move for the forward appears less likely, Malinov clearly wants to play under Gerrard.

The midfielder has previously cited his love for Chelsea, growing up watching players like Emmanuel Petit and Gianfranco Zola so he will have clearly watched Gerrard play.

Not many will know about the holding player but this should come as exciting news to Rangers fans - they might well have another new face arriving through the door soon.
