It was a sad day for the Premier League on Sunday.
That’s because David Silva left it following his final game for Manchester City.
Ten incredible seasons, 434 appearances, 77 goals, 14 trophies and countless magical moments, it’s been an absolute pleasure watching Silva in England.
There have been some incredible Spaniards to grace the Premier League but some fans will claim Silva is the greatest.
But where does he rank in the greatest Spanish footballers of all time?
Well, according to a vote on ranker.com, Silva is the 8th best player from his country.
Who makes the top 20?
Let’s take a look:
20 | David de Gea
19 | Telmo Zarra
18 | Fernando Hierro
17 | Emilio Butragueno
16 | Pep Guardiola
15 | Cesc Fabregas
14 | Francisco Gento
13 | Sergio Busquets
12 | Luis Suarez Miramontes
11 | Gerard Pique
10 | Xabi Alonso
9 | Raul
8 | David Silva
7 | Fernando Torres
6 | Sergio Ramos
5 | David Villa
4 | Carles Puyol
3 | Iker Casillas
2 | Xavi
1 | Andres Iniesta
So, Andres Iniesta is the greatest Spanish player of all time.
You can’t really argue with that, can you?
The Barca legend won nine league titles at the Camp Nou, forming an incredible midfield partnership with the man at No.2, Xavi.
Iker Casillas is next before two former Barca legends with Carles Puyol and David Villa making up the top five.
Current Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, comes next.
But the highest ranked player to play in the Premier League is Fernando Torres, who comes in at No.7 - mainly for his spell at Liverpool, rather than Chelsea no doubt.
Then there’s Silva, who beats the legendary Raul and Xabi Alonso who make up the top 10.
Barca heroes Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets don’t quite make the top 10, while Silva’s City manager, Pep Guardiola is in 16th.
Underfire Man Utd goalkeeper, David de Gea, completes the top 20.
