Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is now free for players to download as Sony reveal its latest selection of free PS Plus games.
Having only been released in March 2020, players will now be able to dive into the nostalgic action-packed campaign free of charge.
Whilst the game is perhaps better known for those 1v1 quick-scope battles on Rust or the One Man Army approach atop a lofty skyscraper on Highrise, the brutal campaign portrays the brutality of war whilst adding a dash of the crazy set-pieces we’ve come to love from the franchise.
Players can ‘rediscover classic missions like Cliffhanger, The Gulag and Whiskey Hotel as you once again join Soap, Price, Ghost and the rest of Task Force 141 in a globe-spanning fight to restore order to the world,’ according to PlayStation.Blog.
Despite the game just having a campaign for now, fans and experts alike are hoping that the studio in charge of development Beenox will release multiplayer modes when the next generation of consoles release this holiday season.
After last month’s trio of free games included Tomb Raider and NBA 2K20, gamers can also download the hilarious ‘60-person online multiplayer party game’ 'Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout' from August 4.
It’s safe to say, however, that for the fans who purchased Modern Warfare 2 Remastered when the game first dropped earlier this year, some on social media aren’t too happy with the decision to now make it free.
According to CharlieINTEL, Russian gamers will be even more annoyed as the classic will not be available in the country as Sony Russia refuses to release the Infinity Ward game.
As rumours intensify following supposed leaks for the 2020 Call of Duty title and updates to the new season of Warzone, players will be able to get their fix of everyone’s favourite first-person shooter series thanks to PS Plus.
