Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain.
The defender arrives at Stamford Bridge on a free transfer and is reported to have signed a 12-month deal, with an option to extend for another season.
Silva completed his medical in Milan on Thursday and is now expected to fly from Italy to London to begin a 14-day period of self-isolation before joining up with the squad.
The 35-year-old becomes Chelsea's SIXTH signing of the summer, joining Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Xavier Mbuyamba, Malang Sarr and Ben Chilwell at Stamford Bridge.
Frank Lampard really isn't messing around, is he?
Ahead of his move to the Premier League, Silva shared a goodbye message to PSG and their fans in a social media post earlier this week, writing:
"Today a cycle ends, after eight years with the PSG team I would like to thank my teammates, the whole technical team and management, the fans, my family, God and friends, for all these happy moments we experienced in the city of light.
"Here, with my wife, we have lived unforgettable moments, our children have grown up, we have become French citizens, and we will forever carry these years lived and France in our hearts. Thank you so much."
Silva is said to be everything Chelsea are looking for in a new centre-back, despite being 35.
The Brazilian brings leadership qualities and incredible experience following over a decade at the top level - and he should fit right in alongside a young defensive partner.
Lampard's side shipped more goals than any other top-half side in the Premier League last season, so improving the defence was a priority for the Blues boss.
It doesn't look like Chelsea are done there, though. Kai Havertz is reportedly set to be the next summer signing and even more players could follow him.
What a summer it's turning out to be at Stamford Bridge.
