Tottenham Hotspur are a club on a mission this summer.

After last season brought the Mauricio Pochettino era to a close, it was the general consensus that Spurs needed to add a more ruthless edge to the set-up.

That's when Jose Mourinho entered the fray.

The Portuguese manager is a natural winner - a man with a strong mentality that can overcome the biggest of obstacles.

It's that sort of mindset that he needs in his team.

By signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart and Matt Doherty he has three players who are proven leaders and aggressive competitors.

It's these sorts of characters that Spurs need in the mix.

But it seems that Tottenham are far from done yet.

Fabrizio Romano is one of the worlds' most established sports journalists, and assessing the situation in North London, he claims that Daniel Levy could yet look to make another three signings.

Speaking on The Last Word On Spurs podcast, Romano said: “I think they will go for a centre-back, for sure. I expect them to go for a centre-back on the transfer market.

“They are also considering the opportunity of a new winger.

“And absolutely a new striker because they need a back-up option for Harry Kane, so I think these three can be the next signings for Tottenham in the first days of October.

“Mourinho wants signings who are perfect for his idea of football.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Tottenham Hotspur supporters would absolutely love this.

After the disappointment of last season, the North London side is in desperate need of a makeover.

Finishing sixth in the Premier League was a decent end to the campaign, but in truth the side should have been aiming much higher.

By signing players that Jose Mourinho is a fan of, the hope is that he'll be able to build the sort of robust side that can challenge for trophies and really instil a winning mentality in the side.

That process is already underway with the new arrivals.

If Romano is right about three more players coming to Spurs, then it'll be very interesting to see how the team get on this season.
