Man United tipped to prioritise move for £108m Tottenham star

Manchester United are preparing for a big season in their history.

After finishing in third place in the Premier League last season the hope is that the Red Devils are finally in a position to mount a title challenge.

It's been a long road to get to this point, but it seems that United could be back competing for the sort of silverware that they crave.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done an excellent job of leading the team through an 18-month rebuild, and that has seen the team improve both on and off the pitch.

Some shrewd signings have taken them in the right direction, and the hope is that this summer they can add a few more pieces to that jigsaw.

Donny Van de Beek has already arrived at the club, while Sergio Reguilon is also said to be a target.

One man who the club have been widely linked with is Jadon Sancho.

The Dortmund starlet has been on the back pages for months as United target a move for the England starlet, but according to club favourite Gary Neville, it's an existing Premier League star who Solskjaer should be targeting.

Writing for Sky Sports, Neville said: "The fans I speak to aren't saying we desperately want Sancho.

"They are saying we want the right calibre of signing brought into the club.

"It could be anybody that fits that bill. Yes, Sancho may fit that bill, but I'm not sat here as a United fan thinking I desperately want him.

"It could be any number of players that become available that would improve United.

"If Harry Kane became available, and Tottenham fans will be saying why are you trying to get him out of Spurs again, but if he became available, he'd obviously improve United's squad.

"So it doesn't have to be a certain player."

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

While I'd be massively surprised to see it happen, Harry Kane to Manchester United would be a massive deal.

Valued at £108million by Transfermarkt, the Tottenham talisman is arguably one of the top players in the Premier League and one who Spurs would not want to lose.

Jose Mourinho will want to build his team around the England skipper, and so the idea of losing him to his former club will not be appealing.

United seem to be targeting midfield players rather than attackers, so on this occasion I think that Tottenham are safe.

But who knows what the future holds - particularly with the North London side no longer in the Champions League.
