Alex Telles: Wolves' potential XI if they beat Man Utd to sign Porto left-back

Wolves will be disappointed they won’t be competing in Europe next season.

After finishing seventh during their first campaign back in the Premier League during the 2018/19 season, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side subsequently qualified for the Europa League.

However, despite finishing seventh again last season and reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League, Wolves won’t be competing in Europe during the 2020/21 season.

But having played 17 matches in the competition staggered over a staggering 383 days, they may not actually miss it.

Instead, they can concentrate on the Premier League as they attempt to crack into the top four. And considering their transfer business so far this summer, they can genuinely achieve that.

They’ve spent a club-record £35 million on 18-year-old Fabio Silva from Porto. The forward is one of the most exciting talents in European football and could form a formidable striking partnership with Raul Jimenez.

The club have also moved to bring in 31-year-old left-back Fernando Marcal from Lyon.

But they don’t appear to be stopping there.

That’s because, according to reports, they’re rivalling Manchester United for the signature of Alex Telles.

The Porto left-back was reportedly closing in on a move to Old Trafford. However, it seems Wolves may win the race with Ruben Vinagre moving in the opposite direction.

Yep, another Portuguese and former Porto player could be heading to the Molineux Stadium. Jorge Mendes does it again…

So, if Wolves actually do beat United to the signature of Telles, how will they line-up next season?

Well, let’s just say they will be capable of challenging for a top-four finish.

Let’s take a look:

With a bit of luck, that Wolves side can genuinely finish in the top-four.

Last season, they struggled with their lack of depth using the fewest players of any Premier League club next season. But with that XI, they would still have the likes of Fernando Marcal, Jonny, Daniel Podence, Diogo Jota, Jonny and Pedro Neto on their bench.

Watch out for Wolves this season!
