Tottenham eye move for player 'with no weak points'

Jose Mourinho

Tottenham's start to the new Premier League campaign was far from ideal.

It's no secret that Spurs' summer has seen them fall behind their rivals, but to lose to Everton was a huge dagger to the heart.

This season, the Toffees could easily surpass the Londoners. That's because of their enthralling work in the transfer market, signing players like James Rodriguez and Allan.

However, the Lilywhites are coming to life this week and their opening weekend defeat has clearly woken some people up at Spurs.

A return to the club for Gareth Bale now looks closer than ever while a move for Sergio Reguilon is also on the verge of being completed.

Those two additions should go a long way to satisfying Jose Mourinho, a manager who has seen Daniel Levy spend minimal amounts in the window to date.

However, it doesn't look as though they'll stop with those two signings.

That's because the club are in the market to sign another frightening winger.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen speedster Leon Bailey.

The Jamaican wants a move to the Premier League and is thought to cost around the £40m mark, a far cry from the £80m it looked like Chelsea might have to pay for his services last summer.

Everton have also been interested in Bailey throughout the current window but it now looks as though Spurs are at the front of the queue to bring him to England.

The 23-year-old has been one of the rising stars of the Bundesliga in recent years.

This would have to be the final nail in the coffin for Ryan Sessegnon.

With Reguilon and Bale looking as though they may arrive, any chances of regular football for the winger can be forgotten about.

It's expected he'll depart on a loan deal but upon his return, football would be severely limited again if Spurs signed Bailey.

This transfer has the potential to be bad news for the 20-year-old, but for Tottenham, they shouldn't really be worried at all.

Leon Bailey

After all, Bailey is a player of immense potential. He scored five times last term but is a truly scary player when he gets going.

Speaking about the attacker a few years ago, Ronald de Boer commented: "He’s so fast it’s not normal. His speed, combined with his technique, is very rare. Exceptional. He has no weak points."

To claim that a player has nothing bad about his game is quite the statement. Of course, Bailey still has room to develop, but he is a perfect winger. He has pace, the ability to beat a man, and can also find the back of the net.
