Liverpool have officially completed the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.
The Spanish midfielder joins the Reds on a four-year deal for a fee believed to be worth around £25m in total.
Thiago will take the number six shirt at Liverpool and could make his debut in the EFL Cup away at Lincoln City on Thursday.
Should he not feature in that game, it's all but a certainty that the Spaniard will thrown into the first-team for the home game against Arsenal on September 28th.
The signing of Thiago is one that's drawing envious gazes from rival fans due to the fact that the 29-year-old is one of the finest midfielders in world football.
He was instrumental in Bayern's treble-winning campaign in 2019/20 and was even named man-of-the-match in the Champions League final win over Paris Saint-Germain.
In his 235 games in all competitions with the German giants, Thiago scored 31 goals and contributed with 37 assists, winning 16 major trophies during his seven-year stint in Bavaria.
Quality and a winning mentality? This guy is going to fit right in at Liverpool.
After sealing his move to the Reds, Thiago told the club's official website: “I think it’s an amazing feeling. I was waiting for this moment for a long time and I am very, very happy to be here.
“When the years are passing, you are trying to win as much as you can – and when you win, you want to win more. I think this club describes what I am as well; I want to achieve all of the goals, win as many trophies as possible.
“It also [has] this kind of family [feeling] that I need because we [like to] have a very close relationship with the club and I think I will feel this, I will have this feeling, with this club as well.”
What a signing and Kopites will also be pleased to know that the arrival of Thiago will not spell the end of Gini Wijnaldum's time at the club.
There is optimism that the Dutchman will sign a new contract with the Reds and put an end to rumours linking him with Ronald Koeman's Barcelona.
