Everton and West Brom went head-to-head at Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime.

The Toffees were firm favourites at their home ground but found themselves 1-0 down after 10 minutes when Grady Diangana put the visitors ahead with a fine solo goal.

However, Everton were back in front before the half-time whistle thanks to goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez.

Calvert-Lewin’s clever close-range finish was given following a VAR review, while James’ first goal for his new club was an absolute peach.

After receiving the ball from Richarlison, James unleashed an unstoppable left-footed strike into the bottom corner of the net from outside the box.

It was a moment of individual brilliance from the former Real Madrid star.

Shortly afterwards, the madness began.

Kieran Gibbs was shown a straight red card by referee Mike Dean following an off-the-ball incident.

The defender inexplicably pushed James in the face, leaving Dean with no option but to show the red card.

Angered by the decision, West Brom boss Slaven Bilic was also sent off by Dean after marching onto the pitch at half-time and letting the experienced match official know, in no uncertain terms, what he was thinking.

Per The Guardian’s Barry Glendenning, Bilic may have said to Dean: “Ref! Ref! Check the foul! Check the red card!"

After being shown the red card, the Baggies’ boss added: "What? I'm not allowed talk to you?"

You can always rely on the Premier League for drama.

Then, a couple of minutes into the second half, West Brom's Matheus Pereira made it 2-2 with a brilliant free-kick...
