Arsenal transfer news: Video shows why Arsenal want to sign Houssem Aouar

On Friday night, it was reported that Lyon’s Houssem Aouar had agreed to join Arsenal.

According to Telefood Chaine, the Gunners were set to submit an offer in excess of £35 million for the 22-year-old with personal terms agreed.

Both Barcelona and Juventus had been interested in the attacking midfielder but the European giants are yet to submit a bid.

Lyon initially wanted £55 million but it’s believed they’ve now lowered their asking price. Arsenal will be hoping they can agree a fee with the French club.

The north London club have been trying to offload the likes of Lucas Torreira and Mateo Guendouzi in order to raise some transfer funds.

They’ve also been linked with Chelsea’s Jorginho or Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey.

But it now seems Aouar is the man.

But what would Aouar bring to Mikel Arteta’s side?

Well, he’s scored 24 goals in 139 games in France but he’s a player who can’t be defined by how many goals he scores.

He’s a creator and finds little pockets of space to create opportunities for his teammates.

Anyone who watched Lyon’s run to the Champions League semi-final - especially their victory over Manchester City in the quarters - will know exactly how good he is.

But if you missed that, then a video is doing the rounds on social media that shows ‘why Arsenal want to sign Houssem Aouar.’

And it’s fair to say it’s got Arsenal fans excited.

Check out the video below and the best reaction from giddy Goobers:

He looks some player, doesn’t he?

A creative midfielder is exactly what Arsenal need right now. If you exclude Mesut Ozil - who appears to have no future under Arteta - Arsenal don’t really have a player capable of creating regular chances for Pierre-Emerick Aubamyang and Alexander Lacazette.

The signing of Aouar will certainly provide that and Arsenal fans should be praying they get this deal over the line.
