West Ham target audacious move for Premier League ace

West Ham United are facing a really difficult time.

After moving into the London Stadium they've really struggled to kick on in the way that the club had planned.

In fact, things have gone backwards.

Last season the Irons avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth after a late rally post-lockdown saw them pick up enough points to avoid the drop.

Although it still took them until the penultimate game of the season to mathematically secure survival.

David Moyes will have hoped to see his side kick on this term, but in fact it threatens to be a very long, hard season for the Hammers.

West Ham have lost a number of players this summer including Albian Ajeti, Jordan Hugill, Pablo Zabaleta, Carlos Sanchez and Roberto.

Add into that the controversial departure of the club's most talented youngster, Grady Diangana, and you can see why fans are unhappy.

Tomas Soucek is the only arrival this summer, and that means that West Ham look set to struggle.

With just over a week remaining in the transfer window it seems that Moyes will be looking to add some shrewd additions to his squad.

An experienced defender seems to be top of the list and it seems that a fresh target could be on the radar.

Alan Nixon of The Sun has claimed that West Ham are interested in Antonio Rudiger.

Valued at £36million by Transfermarkt, the Chelsea defender has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge and looks set to leave the club this summer as a result.

The Hammers are short of cash this summer, but according to the reporter they may be looking at a potential loan deal to take him for the duration of the season.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

West Ham United are in a bad way at the moment.

With reports of financial hardship it seems that the could are in a difficult position.

The Irons look to be on something of a downward spiral and this season could be particularly hard for them unless they address their weaknesses.

One of those weaknesses is in central defence where the club are desperately lacking in quality.

With funds at a premium a loan switch for a defender could be the best way to handle the issue.

That means that a move for Antonio Rudiger could be on the cards.

Of course a loan switch would not rectify the issue in the long run, but given the desperate situation that the club are in it may prove to be a shrewd move to help them improve in the short-term.
