Over the past few months, there has been very little to get excited about.
However, finally something good has come out of the coronavirus crisis.
In a surprise innovation, gamers can now rent out an entire cinema to test themselves on the big screen.
Odeon Cinemas tweeted yesterday to offer people the chance to set up their gaming or movie equipment in one of their theatres.
This is hot off the heels of AMC, who had already started to rent out their screens.
Government restrictions because of the coronavirus crisis have severely impacted cinemas across the world as big screen releases have either been cancelled or pushed well into next year.
Therefore, cinemas have had to think outside the box to keep the lights on.
Odeon’s tweet read: "Check out #pewdiepie’s latest IG story for a glimpse at our awesome #BigScreenGaming offer! Play your favourite games up on the biggest screen in our cinemas.
"Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info, and quote GAMING10 in your email to get 10% off your booking."
Popular gaming influencer PewDiePie has already taken advantage of this cool new experience. He posted on his Instagram story a picture enjoying the experience of playing Super Smash Bros on the big screen before sitting back and enjoying a showing of The Matrix.
So it appears that you can rent out a giant screen at a fraction of the cost it would be to buy a giant projector, which would be perfect for a FIFA tournament with your mates or to watch a group movie.
The timing of this is particularly clever with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X due for release over the next few weeks.
A great opportunity to see what these next generation consoles have to offer on the largest screen possible and compete with your mates.
