Arsenal 0-3 Aston Villa: Ross Barkley and Jack Grealish humiliate Gunners' defence

Aston Villa couldn't have timed their shock 3-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates much better.

Dean Smith's side go into the international break on a massive high, just when it looked like they might have lost their early season momentum following back-to-back defeats.

But as for Mikel Arteta's side? The revolution isn't here yet.

The Gunners' 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford gave plenty of causes for optimism, yet they still proved themselves capable of embarrassing slip-ups on Sunday night.

Arteta's defence have given him plenty to think about over the next fortnight, that's for sure.

Villa had a goal disallowed in the early stages and the deficit might have been even worse.

The only real mitigation for the hosts was that on this form, Jack Grealish is unstoppable.

The England international (well, sometimes, anyway) didn't get on the scoresheet himself but still put in a masterclass, setting up Ollie Watkins' second goal and causing Arsenal endless problems.

At one point, he and a rejuvenated Ross Barkley started rinsing Arsenal's defence just for fun.

It's particularly poor from Rob Holding, whom Barkley had dancing on the spot, and Willian, who made no attempt to play the ball whatsoever.

This clip was taken from the 24th minute, by which time Barkley and Grealish had already carved Arsenal open a number of times.

At the other end, Arteta's side had nobody able to do the same as they failed to score from open play for the fourth game in a row.

In fact, it's now been three defeats in four games and they sit 11th in the Premier League.

So much for all that progress.
