Tyson Fury has posted an incredible message of support for his friend Billy Joe Saunders after he suffered a sickening eye injury against Saul Canelo Alvarez.
Former WBO super-middleweight champion Saunders, 31, tasted defeat for the first time in his career after being badly hurt by a brutal uppercut from pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez.
Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that he sustained a quadripod fracture as a result of the sucker punch and and will now be sidelined for an indefinite period of time.
'Just at hospital in Dallas, @bjsaunders_ stayed in overnight,' Hearn stated.
'Suffered multiple fractures to orbital area and will undergo surgery this afternoon.'
Saunders was transported out of the AT&T Stadium to a local hospital in an ambulance after the humbling defeat, where he underwent surgery to restructure his fractured eye socket the next day.
And Fury, 32, has taken to social media to wish his friend a swift recovery.
'People love to hate on others willing to chase their dreams, Billy Joe Saunders tried to be great last night!' Fury wrote on Twitter.
'It wasn’t his night but at least he had the bottle to follow his dreams and heart.
'He will always me my bro, we go back to 15/16 [years old]. What a night to remember in 30 years.'
He added: 'We thank God for everything and everyone around.
'After a great week in Texas with Billy Joe Saunders we now keep on moving forward in this journey through life.'
Fury has returned to Miami with his trainer SugarHill Steward to resume his training camp in preparation for his upcoming fight against Anthony Joshua in what will be one of the biggest bouts in the history of British boxing.
Hearn revealed after the fight that an announcement is expected to be made before Matchroom Boxing's next show on May 15, which will see Joshua Buatsi take on unbeaten Daniel Blenda Dos Santos in the main event.News Now - Sport News
