Arsenal: Norwich accused of mocking Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of clash

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Teemu Pukki

Arsenal have had a dismal start to the 2021/22 season.

The Gunners opened up the campaign with a disappointing 2-0 defeat against newly-promoted Brentford.

They lost by the same scoreline to Chelsea, before being smashed 5-0 by Manchester City.

Their start to the campaign means they are rock bottom of the Premier League with a goal difference of -9.

Mikel Arteta's side have a huge bottom of the table clash against Norwich on Saturday afternoon.

Both sides have collected 0 points from their opening three games.

Ahead of the game, Norwich have been accused of mocking Arsenal's captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Twitter.

The Gabonese international has had a less than impressive start to the campaign himself.

And Norwich made his struggles clear as they compared his early season stats to Teemu Pukki's.

Ouch. Aubameyang has actually only played 87 minutes of football this campaign, while Pukki has played 224 minutes.

But, despite the contrast in playing time, Norwich still decided to compare their stats which were always going to go in the Finland star's favour.

The tweet has been attracting a lot of attention on Twitter and you can view some of the reaction below, with many thinking Norwich have deliberately mocked Aubameyang.

It wouldn't be a surprise if Aubameyang made Norwich pay at the Emirates Stadium. Prior to the game he has played twice against The Canaries and scored four times, after all.

Arteta could be out of a job should Arsenal lose to Norwich.

But Daniel Farke is a huge fan of his and has sung the Arsenal manager's praises ahead of the game.

"Mikel Arteta is a fantastic guy, we have met several times," he started, per football.london.

"He has unbelievable football knowledge with unbelievable experience, who tries to bring his own handwriting on to this team.

"In this business there is always pressure, and Mikel knows it – especially as he has played for some of the best clubs in the world.

"He has handled this pressure as a player and believe me, he will not crack under any pressure as a coach. He is much too smart, intelligent and such a good person."
