Barcelona: Cadiz fans trolled them with chant about Lionel Messi before game

You have to respect the trolling from the Cadiz fans...

Barcelona's 2021/22 season hasn't exactly got off to the greatest start.

After being thrashed 3-0 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Ronald Koeman's side dropped another horrendous performance versus Granada on Monday.

A late goal from defender Ronald Araujo - who's been the team's best player by a country mile this campaign - was required to earn a point against a side who are struggling themselves.

Prior to the team's game away at Cadiz on Thursday evening, the Blaugrana had earned just eight points from their four La Liga matches.

What's even worse is the fact that they only scored eight goals in that quartet of games, which is the same number as Karim Benzema himself has netted in the Spanish top-flight for Real Madrid so far this season.

It's not a great time to be a Barcelona fan, is it?

To make matters worse, the Catalan outfit were trolled by Cadiz fans in the build-up to Monday's game.

Outside the stadium, the home team's supporters mocked Barcelona by chanting: "Where is Leo Messi?!"

Barcelona just cannot catch a break at the moment, can they?

The team look lost without Messi, who was forced to leave the club in the summer due to serious financial issues.

To be fair, the Argentine hasn't looked great himself this season. He's yet to score or assist a goal for Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi made his first Ligue 1 start last weekend against Lyon, but failed to have much of an impact and was eventually substituted by Mauricio Pochettino as a precaution.

Of course, it's more than likely that the 34-year-old will start smashing it at PSG before too long, as he's simply too good to be sub-par for a prolonged period of time.

We can't say the same about Barcelona, though.

The team's loyal fans look like they will have to settle for mediocrity for quite some time and it's hard to see how the Blaugrana can rediscover their greatness of yesteryear.
