'Best goal I’ve ever seen live': OL Reign’s Eugénie Le Sommer scores brilliant team effort

OL Reign manager Laura Harvey claimed Eugénie Le Sommer’s second goal against Orlando Pride yesterday was the "best I’ve ever seen live."

OL Reign took on Orlando Pride in the NWSL last night, beating their opponents 3-0. Bethany Balcer opened the scoring for Reign, before Le Sommer doubled the lead in the 28th minute.

Four minutes later, Le Sommer was on the scoresheet again. The Frenchwoman was at the end of a fantastic team effort, started off by Kristen McNabb.

McNabb played the ball to Jess Fishlock on the edge of the penalty box, who turned and cut it back to Dzsenifer Marozsán.

Marozsán then hit first time an inch-perfect pass into the feet of Le Sommer, whose brilliant run cut through the heart of the Orlando Pride defence. Le Sommer was unable to miss from such close range, poking it past goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris.

According to Equaliser Soccer founder Jeff Kassouf, Harvey was full of praise for the goal, which can be watched here

"I need to watch that third goal back, but I think that's the best goal I've ever seen live," she said.

Freelance sports writer Glenn Moore was another to commend the team effort, writing: "Is indeed a stunning goal, and not just for the passing. Le Sommer’s off-the-ball run is brilliant."

Fans were full of praise for Marozsán’s pass, with Twitter user commenting: "The only word to describe this one-touch Dzsenifer Marozsán assist is incisive. What vision. What a pass."

Another wrote: "Marozsán is one of the best midfielders in the world. The OL players are bringing something special to the NWSL."

OL Reign are currently second in the NWSL table. Portland Thorns are just three points in front of the side, but have a game in hand. The two teams will meet in a highly-anticipated match on Saturday.

Marozsán and Le Sommer are currently on loan at OL Reign from French side Olympique Lyonnais. Both clubs have the same parent company – OL Groupe.

Both Marozsán and Le Sommer achieved multiple Division 1 Féminine and Champions League titles with Lyon, and will now be hoping to win the NWSL with OL Reign.
