Glen Kamara was reportedly subjected to boos from young Sparta Prague fans on Thursday.

Rangers had faced Sparta's local rivals, Slavia Prague, in last season's Europa League with Ondrej Kudela found guilty of racially abusing Kamara during the clash at Ibrox.

Kudela was provisionally suspended for one game after the incident and was later given a ten-match ban by UEFA with Slavia Prague's subsequent appeal being rejected.

Fast-forward six months and Kamara once again found himself playing against Prague-based opposition, deciding along with his Rangers teammates to take the knee before kick-off.

The game was due to be held behind closed doors with a group of Sparta Prague fans having been charged for racially abusing AS Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni in a Champions League qualifier.

However, UEFA's ban has since been relaxed with children permitted to attend the game at Generali Česká pojišťovna Arena, which ultimately ended in a 1-0 win for the hosts.

But the winning goal of Dávid Hancko was overshadowed by alarming reports that the young Sparta Prague fans in attendance booed with Kamara with every touch.

Kamara 'booed with every touch'

Jordan Campbell of The Athletic tweeted: "Sparta Prague fans racially abused Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni so faced a stadium closure tonight vs Rangers.

"The only exception is that 10,000 local kids under 14 years are in but Glen Kamara, racially abused by Slavia’s Ondrej Kudela, is now being booed with every touch. Doesn’t get much more depressing than that."

Barry Anderson of The Scotsman added: "Can't recall a more wretched sight/sound in European football lately than thousands of Czech children booing Glen Kamara's every touch for Rangers against Sparta Prague.

"Inside a stadium meant to be closed by UEFA because of fans' racism. Appalling."

And the BBC's Chris McLaughlin tweeted: "Undeniable booing of #Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara in a stadium full of children in Prague this evening.

"Kamara suffered racist abuse from Czech international Andrej Kudela earlier this year. Interesting to see Uefa’s response."

Alarming reports

Reports of so many children under the age of 14 booing a player who had been found by UEFA to have been subjected to racial abuse is absolutely reprehensible and must be addressed.

Andrew Maclean reports that Steven Gerrard reacted by saying: “I wasn’t aware because I was focused on the game. But if those are the facts then I’m extremely disappointed - but not surprised”.

Kamara was later sent off in Prague after picking up a yellow card late in the first-half and receiving a second caution for a foul on Michal Sacek.
