Polish MMA star Blachowicz was making the second defence of his 205lbs title in Abu Dhabi - but it didn't exactly go according to plan for the 38-year-old.
He lost via first-round submission to Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC 267.
And it didn't take long for Jones to rub salt in the wound as he took the opportunity to mock the former champ and claimed it was his own fault for 'not focusing on the opponent right in front of you'.
Bones wrote: "See what happens when you’re talking s---, not focusing on the opponent right in front of you. Another one bites the dust."
He added: "Yo Glover you are a real G my friend, so happy for you. Let’s go Brazil!"
"I guess we’ll never find out," he wrote in reply to a fan asking what would have happened if the two had ever fought.
Jones, 34, was last seen in action against Dominick Reyes back in February 2020.
Both fighters thought they had done enough to deserve the victory but Jones was the one who ultimately got his hand raised on the night.
Jones has not fought since but Blachowicz successfully captured the vacant title at UFC 253.
He stopped Reyes in the second round in September 2020.
Blachowicz has repeatedly called for a legacy-defining fight against the American, issuing several public callouts via the media.
But those plans have been shelved for the time being as he bids to win back the belt he lost from Teixeira.
Speaking after the fight, Blachowicz said: “My performance today was horrible. I don’t know. I wasn’t champion today, he was. He is.
“I don’t know, I need time to think about it, but for sure something was bad.
"It wasn’t me. I don’t want to explain myself, he beat me, everybody see that. It’s not over, I’m not a quitter, I will not go anywhere, I will come back here for sure.
"I need to rest for sure, think a little bit, and for sure I will come back. I’m not a quitter, I’m not a coward, I will not quit. You’re gonna see me in the octagon again.”
He continued: “We’ll see what happens in the future. I don’t know.
"If it will be a chance to take a rematch, of course I would like to take a rematch with [everyone I lost to before].
"First of all, now I don’t have chance for rematch, now I need to prove that I have to come back and win a couple of fights.”News Now - Sport News
