About Chelsea FC
Chelsea have transformed into one of the best clubs in England, regularly competing at the top-end of the Premier League table. Founded in 1905 and nicknamed ‘The Blues’, the west-London club play their home matches at Stamford Bridge and recent success has come since the arrival of their owner, Roman Abramovich. With bitter rivalries against both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, Chelsea will be hoping to add more silverware in the future and push themselves among the elite clubs in Europe.
In terms of club value, Chelsea easily rank inside the top 10 in the world; Abramovich has consistently invested into the club since his arrival back in 2003, which propelled the Blues into challenging for titles and competing for European silverware. They rapidly transitioned into a team fighting towards the bottom of the Premier League table to one consistently applying pressure at the top.
Most of Chelsea’s success has come in recent years. Overall, the Blues are six-time First Division/Premier League Champions - with five of those titles coming after 2004. The club also has eight FA Cup and five League Cup trophies to boast about, complemented with four FA Community Shields.
And Abramovich’s investment paid dividends on a European scale. Chelsea won the 2011/12 Champions League final against Bayern Munich in spectacular fashion, which was followed by winning the Europa League the following season and again in 2018/19. Chelsea have also won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup twice and the UEFA Super Cup once.
The financial backing the club has received has allowed several world-class players to join the west-London outfit. Over the years, the likes of John Terry, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard have all created special memories for Chelsea fans to remember for a very long time.
