About Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace is an established, Premier League club who have maintained levels of consistency in the top-flight of English football. Founded in 1905, the club is known as ‘Palace’ or ‘The Eagles’ and wear their famous red and blue striped kit. Palace fans will be hoping that the club can push on from their mid-table Premier League security and challenge higher up the division for European qualification.
The Eagles have failed to endure a great deal of success in their history when it comes to honours and trophies. However, the club has inherited some excellent talent over the years - just take Wilfried Zaha for example - and have come close on more than one occasion. Palace fans will be optimistic that their club will, one day, record a major trophy.
Overall, Palace have endured some domestic success. The Eagles have won the second tier of English football twice and are four-time play-off winners from that division - a record in England. Palace have also won the third-tier once and their highest finish in the First Division - now known as the Premier League - came during the 1990/91 season, finishing in third place.
Despite not winning a major trophy, Palace have reached the FA Cup final twice in their history; once in 1990 and the other more recently in 2016, losing to Manchester United in extra-time. However, they have never reached the final of the League Cupand the Palace faithful will be hoping for improvements on those honours in the coming years.
