About Everton FC

Everton Football Club is a professional club based in Liverpool, England.

The club currently plays in the Premier League and holds the record for the most seasons spent in the top division of English football.

The club was formed in 1878 as St Domingo FC before changing its name a year later to reflect the name of the local area.

Everton were one of the founding members of The Football League in 1888 and have won multiple honours including league titles and FA Cups.

Goodison Park, a 39,000-seater stadium, opened in 1892 and was the first major football stadium built in England.

The club has a fierce local rivalry with Liverpool. Games between the sides are known as the Merseyside derby, which is the longest-running top-flight derby in English football.

The club enjoyed sustained success under manager Howard Kendall in the 1980’s, winning two League Championships, one FA Cup, and the 1985 European Cup Winners' Cup.

The Premier League era has seen the club rebound from near relegation in 1997, to competing in the Champions League in 2005.
